End of Sept Holidays T_T

Another post after hundred years. Anyway, shall sum up the things in a real neat way (i hope)

Generally, this holiday week sucks - hell a lot of work, boring, uninteresting

Monday had physics make-up. Got back the long-waited test paper. Scored averagely for it. Lost to Nuda again. =( Nvm. Shall beat him up at EOY exams. After that, went to vivo with ryan and kenneth to eat. Then went to victoria theatre and memorial hall to take pictures for english oral ppt. Very hot. After that, went to Raffles Hotel, before making a trip to the Gateway and the Suntec City. Very nice. Then went to Marina Square and walked a bit. Went inside Cathay Photo shop. Had a strong temption to buy everything there. Didnt know they sell leica and carl zeiss lens as well. but since no autofocus, then shall forget it - I hate manual focusing, although it's nice for close-up objects. Then went home after that

Dont remember anything from tues to Fri. Coz nvr go out and was stuck at home doing all the shitty work. Real boring.

Saturday was nice. Went to the Comex Show. Damn crowded as usual. Finally Canon sell their 3 out of 5 new compact cameras. G11 and S90 haven't arrived to spore yet. Eos 7D hasn't arrived yet as well. I was surprised to see them actually selling lens there! First time. But nvr bought anything there. Nikon, as usual, gave yellow pieces of paper. They got the new D300s to kick out the D300. D3000 is pointless since D5000 would be a way better choice in the near same price range. Sony, as usual, lowered their cameras' prices to very low. Their full frame a850 costs only $2999? wtf. damn cheap for a ff. But ISO performance is shit, so no point. Their other SLRs are all what nuda called them as 'toy slrs' so not worth the time looking. Their new compacts had bad designs, esp the top. Damn ugly. I'm not against sony's idea of what a camera should look like, but i personally nvr liked their design. Olympus got some new cameras out. Shan't mention them since they are all compacts. Fujifilm came up with new cameras as well! Their F70 EXR looks damn nice. Shiny metallic feel is great. I hope their new F200sd EXR would kill their predecessor (f100) in terms of CA, resolution....etc. Damn nice as well. Still got....Panasonic! They kicked their LX3. T_T. nvm. their Fx580 shall kill. The black one looks damn nice. Later, went to cathay photo, where we bought a 5D2, 16-35 and a speedlite 430. =D Very ex.

Sunday is real boring as well. Actually not really. Today we tested the 5D2 wit the 16-35. Damn wide! Didn't know 16mm was that wide. Damn cool. Tested the flashgun as well. Damn nice. But then, 5D2 + 16-35 + 430= 1.5kg!! Will be damn heavy, but the pics will be damn nice as well. Ahhh. Enough of posting. Shall post some other time again. =P

Twice...

Ok...i shall start from where i stopped just now.
Ha! Canon EOS 7D is coming out soon. It is RUMOURED to be released tomorrow (1 Sept). Hmmm... Sounds great. However, the RUMOURED specifications ain't that good:
18 megapixels on APS-C sensor (Holy shit - higher pixel density than 50D!!!)
19 or 25 AF points (Great)
Dual DIGIC 4 processors (like the 1 series)
HD video capability (excellent feature although not important)
Built-in-flash (Hmmm? First time xD series has a built-in-flash)
Auto ISO 100-6400 w/H1 (errr... no ISO 12800? Hmmm...)
8 FPS (wow. will the shutter break? But it's definitely great to have this feature)
100% viewfinder (nice one)
and many other rumoured specs which ain't too interesting...

Here are my thoughts:
I'd rather have a FF sensor. 18mp will create a high pixel density on a APS-C sensor (around 5.4pixels/cm^2)! However, it will be extremely nice on a FF sensor (2.08pixels/cm^2?). Next, i find that the 24-105L lens is not very wide on 50D (38-168mm). 38mm is not wide... Thus with full frame i will get the very wide 24mm view. APS-H (1.3x)would be great as well. Pixel density would lie between FF and APSC. 19 or 25 AF points is a lot to me since i have been using 9 all the time. And i'm sure that the viewfinder would look great with these points =D. Dual DIGIC 4 processors is somewhat hardcore. This feature is only found in the 1D/1Ds Mark III (Double DIGIC 3 processors for both).
MY CONCLUSION: This camera doesn't sound like it should be in the $4000 (5D mark 2's price range) category. In fact, it sounded it should be priced way higher, provided it has a FF sensor. Still, this is MY conclusion only. Let's wait for tomorrow. If this camera does not perform up to my standards, i'd go for the 5D mark 2.

Very tireed already. Shan't talk much. Shall end here.

5:35 PM

Hello....

It has been years since i posted. But well, i shall post today.
Today was teachers' day celebration. Relatively enjoyable. The performance was great, although the school's old speakers couldn't do a decent job - too much harmonic distortion and poor frequency range... ah nvm. Well, i can;t possibly say much about the celebration. There isn't a lot to talk about. Oh ya, i saw one dude holding a canon xD series or xxD series with a 24-70mm lens. Real nice.
Shall post later. Going dinner.;

Finally - a post

Boo. It's been a long time since i posted. I'm gonna keep it short, coz i'm tired.

Celebrated national day at school. Not bad at all. After that, went with Yew Hui to JP to meet with primary school friends. Played basketball near Gordon's house. Got owned by some other kids playing there as well.

Really lame...

Finally, another post. I don't really bother doing this too much. I don't know why though. LOL.

Life is now busy with school stuff. After school have so much hmk - it doesn't end here; there are hell a lot of supplementary lessons, which it's somewhat useful, at the expense of all my free time. I can hardly get any rest and i may just die one day. Sounds great right? Of course not.

Yes, school life may be busy, but it's great when you realise that you could meet all your friends again, especially some people. The usual joking comes back, and life to me seems a lot better at school than at home, where you can be bored to death watching videos or playing games or reading books or whatever. The only downside? - as i have mentioned previously, homework, tests and supplementary lessons are the big issues. Weekends just don't seem too good nowadays.

Tried wolfteam again this week. It's arugably better now, with improvements such as better A2 recoil and (finally!) your own kill/death statistics updated after each match. I used to have to go to the server list and come back in before my stats are updated. Also, tappers disconenct from the server once they tap.Quite an improvement eh? Upon saying this, there are still qutie a number of problems (I shan't list all). The A2 damage seemed to have plunged down a bit. Same goes for the other guns. They ain't that strong now, or it seems to me that way. Also, I'm not seeing any new guns despite new maps (only valid for destruction mode??). Also, the number of tappers seemed to have gone up, although they dc once they tap. The gun firing sounds still sound like crap (esp EM-60PT). So in the end, there are still many problems not fixed, but WT is marginally better now (and this is a very good comment already).

Ahhh... Canon EOS 60D should announced in August. That's what i heard in the dpreview. Everyone's saying that. And many people are expecting a lot from 60D: 12mp/18mp , better AF system, more AF points, blah blah blah. I am definitely against the MP increase. My 50D's 15mp is already too much, and this results in softness. 12mp on a APS-C sensor is great. Better AF system is a must. You don't want your camera to be focusing in the corner when it says it has focused in the center. More AF points isn't necessary for me. But if it does have one, then it's a bonus. Video recording is good as well, since my videos can enjoy the benefits of the EF and EF-S lenses - mainly manual optical zoom (feels like a professional camcorder). Overall, i hope it is many strides ahead of 50D, and not too expensive as well. But well, it hasn't come out, so nobody will know the specs till it comes out. For now, I yearn the EOS 5D Mark II, which costs $3950. Oh well, very expensive - it's a full frame, what'd you expect? I mean, it's excellent - resolution, ISO performance, blah blah blah. Only bad thing? You need to buy flashguns - it doesn't have a built-in flash. I might wanna buy the speedlite EX580 II, but that's if i get the camera, so meanwhile, i can only dream about it. Also, I have the lens, but not the camera, ya so, forget it. It's too good, so it is too expensive (but a very high price-performance value - it is extremely worth it).

Have been looking at phones these days as well. Not much ncie phones, although the nokia 3720 seems to look good that it has rugged build quality. You can heave it to the ground without spoiling the phone. You can dunk it in water. You can also use it as a substitute for a golf ball. All in all, it is highly shockproof and waterproof. Perfect phone fior construction workers - they don't have to worry about dropping the phone and spoiling it. But anyway, many phones are now concentrated on cameras. Seriously. High MP, mroe features and stuff like that. High mp is still useless. Ignore the slight resolution advantage - you get marginally more detail by increasing the file size. Take the samsung INNVO8 and the pixon12 for example. The pixon12 (12 megapixels) has very slight resolution advantage over the INNOV8 (8 megapixels), despite the 50% increase in resolution. So, what does this say? More mp does not mean better image quality. You should improve the sensor (the noise reduction algorithm for example) instead of increasing the pixels. Take the Nokia 6700 classic and N97 for example. Both of them feature a 5mp camera. However, the 6700's camera is superior since its output is less noisy (better noise reduction system) and hence, it exhibits better details than the N97's camera. Very clean, very nice. See? Mp isn't everything. But still, more MP can deliver more resolution (capture more stuff), but that's if your camera sensor can handle all the pixels. Otherwise, forget it.

I realised I have talked too much. It is now 11:34pm. Shall post again next time (maybe next year).

Boo

Just played portal yesterday night. Was very fun but too short - I completed it in 2+ hours. Shan't post much now. Very tired.

Post-it!

The holidays are about to end. Is thata good or bad thing to you guys? Both to me - good as i can meet my friends and end my freaking boredom that's haunting me, bad as lessons are gonna start and that means i'm gonna have to wake up at 5am again.
Anyway, nuda and i went to the zoo last sunday to take photos. Free admission thanks to nuda's membership. His 500D is way lighter than my 50D by a lot!!! But this is only due to the different lenses we are using. He was using the EFS 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM (200-300+g), while i'm using the EF24-105 f/4L IS USM (670g). Thus, by the end of the trip, my neck was aching from the 1+ kg weight (I was wearing the neckstrap). Anyway, the trip was certainly great. The feeling is sure different form using compacts. Faster focusing, WAY better ISO performance, better ergonomics and some other improvements at the expense of weight - but who cares? Still, my circular polarising filter (Supresses reflections, as well as reduce brightness) seemed to make my lens have trouble focusing in low light. Damn it. But nvm. Anyway, we would need a telephot0 lenses (70-200, 100-400 or prime lenses if you can afford them) to capture better photos here. Saw many people using the 18-200 lenses. Seems like convenience wins over image quality. No surprise. You wouldn't want to spend money buying expensive lenses. But if you can afford them, you should do it though - way higher image quality. Oh ya, the rhino's dung stink. I got a good picture of the dung and i shall post it later.
Ahh...I shall post later on. Now, i'm simply too tired. Oh ya, and the school's physics assessments suck hard. Two of their assessments screwed up when i clicked on them. No questions at all and i have just wasted the attempt. I shall try others later.

Cheers.

An image

Just posting an image taken at suntec. Looks real neat.

Another post is here...

Finally, another post came out.

Firstly, my wolfteam kdr is still 1.93. Wolfteam is still as lame as ever. I am just playing it to raise my rank and kdr. Otherwise, no point playing it.
Next, i realised that if i turned up my in-camera sharpness (maybe to a 6 or 7 for my 50D), i can recover some blurred details (in other words, giving the image a touch mroe detail). This is excellent, since i finally found the solution to my camera's poor per pixel sharpness problem. That's why Canon should not put 15 megapixels into a APSC sensor. They should just put 12.8 megapixels like 5D in the APSC sensor. 15mp is way too much - causes a pixel-packed sensor, resulting in a drop in per pixel sharpness, therefore average per pixel detail capturing. But never mind, i have a solution and i'm gonna test it out to see if it works. The lens is very sharp, therefore, my camera becomes the limiting factor instead (rare though, since the lens is always the limiting factor).

Also, the new 500D is only slightly better than my 50D. Phew. But expected, since it is also pixel packed. Hahas.

Next, alot of people are real dumb in thinking that the more the pixels the better the image quality will come from the camera. I heard this alot from the gsmarena's comment area. Many people tend to think this way - even for handphones. This is ridiculous. This statement is certainly not true at all. especially when a handphone sensor is bloody small - even smaller than a compact's!!! I dont care whether SE's SATIO 12mp camera is capturing mroe detail than Samsung's INNOV8. This is pointless, since the difference will only be marginal. Moreover, noise will become a big problem. You gonna start smearing all the detail to rid of all noise in high light sensitivities? Whats the point then?Hence, gsmarena's assumption that handphone's 12mp camera will rival low end point and shoot will not be true. Don't only compare Image quality. Compare the time taken to process a image. Or switching on a camera. Or battery life (although some cameras seriously suck at this). The difference is way too wide. No need to compare to SLRs. The difference is unimaginable. Hence, those people should eradicate all thoughts of "more pixels = better image quality". Higher resolution is a maybe only. In fact, your extinction resolution will only be marginally higher than those with a lower resolution sensor. So, no point.

Fourthly, the anime "Valkyria Chronicles" is great. Real nice. Alicia seems to be a poor thing in a few episodes. Hahas. She thinks that Guther is causing her problems... ah nvm. Go watch it yourself. Oh ya, the game is very ncie as well. Except that...it's a bit unrealistic. A tank mortar can't kill a foot soldier. Now, what do you say? But then, the storyline is great, as well as the gameplay.

That's all, dudes.

Finally...another post

yes...finally another post after a decade.
First of all, we got back our results and that was it.
Next, my wolfteam kdr rose up to 1.93. Nice huh? NO. The game is a pathetically poor. No new features or upgrade. There's a few nice upgrades, but not major. I played half-life 2 again and found that this game is a million strides ahead of wolfteam. I dont care whether it is because of pc game or an online game. Rmb that few pc games can receive upgrades or patches while online games can have hell a lot of patches upgrades and stuff. Therefore, wolfteam is definitely not worth the time in my opinions.
Thirdly, got a nice lens. =D. Real nice. EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM. A bit bulky and heavy, but that's what makes it special.
Fourthly,...errr what should i say? Not much though.
Lastly, june holidays is real boring. Can hardly meet my classmates at all. Would be real nice if can meet her though, but nvm. Oh ya, btw, CIP, although boring, is rather worth the time. You get to slack a lot, but you get 4 hours for that. Of course, nobody will slack through the 4 hours - you don't deceive a second of it. Went to look at cameras and some nostalgic toys. Bring back some good memories. hahas.
The real last, i have been waiting for the Canon EOS500D review to come out at dpreview. Still havent come out yet. The digitalpicture website has the review already. Sian. Its ISO performance is slightly better than mine. Waaa. Nvm.
Thats all dudes. Dont expect much, coz i can hardly find anything to say.
